Aspect particle 着 (zhe) - Continuous state

Meaning: Doing, currently (in a state of)

Pattern

Subject + Verb + 着 + (Object)

Usage

Placed after a verb to indicate the continuation of an action or a state.

Examples

门开着。
Mén kāi zhe.
The door is open.

他们穿着红色的衣服。
Tāmen chuānzhe hóngsè de yīfu.
They are wearing red clothes.

Notes

Negative form: 没 + Verb + 着.
