Pick a standard and level just like in the vocabulary section: HSK 3.0 (new standard, levels 1–6 plus a combined 7–9 exam) or HSK 2.0 (previous standard, levels 1–6). Each level has mock exams and a link to its exact word list.

Vocabulary to know: 2,245 words
HSK 2.0 has 6 levels with 5,000 words at the top. HSK 3.0 expands to 9 levels (7–9 share one exam) and raises vocabulary requirements — level 1 needs about 500 words instead of 150.
After 3–6 months of study you can start with HSK 1–2. Universities and employers usually ask for HSK 4 or above; postgraduate programmes often require HSK 5–6.
For HSK 2.0: levels 1–2 pass at 120/200, levels 3–6 pass at 180/300.
