难得 (nándé) – rare, seldom; hard to come by

Pattern

• 难得 + Verb phrase（很少发生）
• （很 / 十分）+ 难得 + 的 + Noun（不容易得到）

Usage

• (1) Before a verb: something seldom happens (难得见一面); (2) as an adjective: something hard to get and therefore precious (难得的机会 – a rare opportunity).

Examples

   我们难得见一次面，今天好好聊聊吧。

   Wǒmen nándé jiàn yí cì miàn, jīntiān hǎohāo liáoliao ba.

   We rarely get to meet – let's have a proper chat today.

2. 2

   这是一次难得的机会，你一定要抓住。

   Zhè shì yí cì nándé de jīhuì, nǐ yídìng yào zhuāzhù.

   This is a rare opportunity – you must seize it.
