Usage

• A colloquial adverb of guessing, suggesting something is quite likely; it can start the sentence or follow the subject.
• As a predicate it means “not certain yet” (这事还说不定).

Examples

   别轻易放弃，说不定下次就成功了。

   Bié qīngyì fàngqì, shuōbudìng xià cì jiù chénggōng le.

   Don't give up so easily – who knows, you might succeed next time.

2. 2

   他这么晚还没来，说不定是忘了。

   Tā zhème wǎn hái méi lái, shuōbudìng shì wàng le.

   It's this late and he still hasn't come – maybe he forgot.
