Pattern

• 尽管 + Fact，Subject + 还是 / 仍然 / 但是 + Result

Usage

• At HSK 4, in addition to the familiar 虽然…但是…, learners need to master 尽管…还是/仍然/但是….
• 尽管 means "even though / despite the fact that" with a stronger concessive nuance than 虽然, implying that the speaker acknowledges an unfavorable reality while the second clause still occurs contrary to expectations.
• The second clause often uses 还是 or 仍然 to emphasize persistence or an unchanged action.
• Unlike 不管 or 无论 (which indicate any hypothetical condition), 尽管 introduces a specific fact that has already happened or is currently happening.
• Common mistakes include confusing 尽管 with 不管
