一经 (yìjīng) – once (…, then immediately)

Pattern

• Noun + 一经 + Verb（双音节），(就 / 便 / 立即) + Result

Usage

• A written adverb before a two-syllable verb, meaning that once some action or procedure takes place, the corresponding result follows at once; the second clause often has 就, 便, 立即, 即.
• Common in rules and notices (一经发现，严肃处理 – violators will be dealt with severely).

   这项新政策一经公布，立即引起了社会各界的广泛关注。

   Zhè xiàng xīn zhèngcè yìjīng gōngbù, lìjí yǐnqǐ le shèhuì gè jiè de guǎngfàn guānzhù.

   As soon as the new policy was announced, it drew wide attention from all sectors of society.

   考试作弊者一经发现，成绩一律作废。

   Kǎoshì zuòbìzhě yìjīng fāxiàn, chéngjì yílǜ zuòfèi.

   Any candidate caught cheating will have their results cancelled.
