• Clause 1，否则 + Result

Usage

• A conjunction opening the second clause, meaning “if you don't do what was just said, then …”; it usually states a bad consequence as a warning.
• The first clause often contains 要, 得, 必须, 应该.

Examples

1. 1

   我们要认真复习，否则考试会考不好的。

   Wǒmen yào rènzhēn fùxí, fǒuzé kǎoshì huì kǎo bu hǎo de.

   We need to revise seriously, otherwise we'll do badly in the exam.

2. 2

   快点儿走吧，否则我们要迟到了。

   Kuài diǎnr zǒu ba, fǒuzé wǒmen yào chídào le.

   Let's hurry, or else we'll be late.
