•When an adjective specifies the dimension of comparison with 不如 / 不及, place the adjective at the END after B (A + 不如 + B + Adj, e.g., 我不如他聪明 — never *我聪明不如他).
⚠️ Common Mistakes:
•Misplacing the adjective before 不如 (*我聪明不如他 is wrong — must be 我不如他聪明).
•Failing to distinguish nuance between 不如 and 没有 — 不如 explicitly evaluates A as inferior or less desirable, whereas 没有 is a neutral comparison.
•Using 胜过 / 远胜于 in casual everyday small talk — sounds overly literary.
•Omitting 远 before 不及 / 胜于 when emphasizing a vast gap (use 远不及 / 远胜于, not *很不及).
