Noun Predicate Sentence (Expressing Dates, Age, Time)

Meaning: Noun predicate sentence (age, dates)

Pattern

Subject + [Words indicating date / time / age]

Usage

The predicate of the sentence is a noun or noun phrase (usually indicating time, date, weather, or age) without requiring the verb 是.

Examples

今天9月1号。
Jīntiān jiǔ yuè yī hào.
Today is September 1st.

我的汉语老师33岁。
Wǒ de Hànyǔ lǎoshī sānshísān suì.
My Chinese teacher is 33 years old.

Notes

Although affirmative sentences do not require 是, the negative form strictly requires 不是 (e.g., 今天不是9月1号).
