Usage

• A written verb linking a cause in the first part with a (usually negative) consequence in the second.

   Guǎnlǐcéng de zhòngdà shīwù zhìshǐ gōngsī xiànrù le cáiwù wēijī.

   Serious mistakes by management plunged the company into a financial crisis.

   连日暴雨致使多条道路中断。

   Liánrì bàoyǔ zhìshǐ duō tiáo dàolù zhōngduàn.

   Days of heavy rain left several roads cut off.
