Usage

• The progressive emphatic construction 别说……就是……也…… (biéshuō... jiùshì... yě...) is a vivid pattern used in spoken and expressive Chinese at the HSK 5 level.
• It conveys that because an easier, lesser condition B cannot even occur, an advanced, greater condition A is completely out of the question ('not to mention A / let alone A, even B cannot...').
• Crucially, element A represents the higher, harder, or larger benchmark (e.g., one hundred yuan, going abroad, writing an essay), while element B represents the lower, easier, or minimal benchmark (ten yuan, leaving the province, writing a simple letter).
• The predicate following 也 typically takes a negative form (没, 不) to show absolute deficiency.
