Advanced 把 (bǎ) Sentences with Result or Directional Complements

Meaning: Disposal construction with result/directional complements

Pattern

At HSK 4, the 把 sentence is expanded with various complements: result complements (完, 好, 干净, 清楚, 错, 在, 到, 成), directional complements (上来, 下去, 进来, 出去, 起来, 回家), and quantity/frequency complements.
Basic structure: Subject + 把 + Definite Object + Verb + Complement + (了).
The object after 把 must be known or definite (e.g., 这本书, 我的钱包), and the verb cannot stand bare—it must be followed by a complement, 了, 着, or verb reduplication.
Note that stative verbs (是, 有) and non-disposal mental/sensory verbs (知道, 觉得, 看见) cannot be used as the main verb in a 把 sentence.

•The object after 把 must be definite, and the verb must be followed by a complement or aspect marker.

⚠️ Common Mistakes:

•Using 把 with stative or non-disposal mental verbs (e.g., 有, 是, 知道).

•Using an indefinite object after 把 or leaving the verb bare without any complement.
