Sentence-final modal particles make spoken Chinese natural and expressive:

啊 (a): the most general particle for exclamation, confirmation, or friendly reminders: 你来了啊!
(Oh, you're here!).
2.
呀 (ya): the phonetic variant of 啊 used after syllables ending in vowels a, e, i, o, or ü: 这个真好吃呀!

•啊 changes to 呀/哇/哪 depending on the preceding sound; 啦 = 了 + 啊.
