终究 (zhōngjiū) – eventually, in the end

Usage

• An adverb stressing the final result after a process (despite difficulties or waiting) or an unchanging nature; it works for things that already happened as well as general truths.

Examples

   经过多方努力，这起法律纠纷终究得到了公正的解决。

   Jīngguò duō fāng nǔlì, zhè qǐ fǎlǜ jiūfēn zhōngjiū dédào le gōngzhèng de jiějué.

   Thanks to efforts on many sides, the legal dispute was eventually settled fairly.

2. 2

   他努力了很久，终究还是没能说服父母。

   Tā nǔlì le hěn jiǔ, zhōngjiū háishi méi néng shuōfú fùmǔ.

   He tried for a long time, but in the end he still couldn't persuade his parents.
