Structure 是……的 (shì...de) - Emphasis

Meaning: It is... that...

Pattern

Subject + 是 + Emphasized part + Verb + 的

Usage

Used to emphasize time, place, or manner of a PAST event.

Examples

这本书是我买的。
Zhè běn shū shì wǒ mǎi de.
I bought this book.
2
手机不是我弄坏的。
Shǒujī bú shì wǒ nòng huài de.
I didn't break the phone.

Notes

是 can be omitted in affirmative sentences.
